Are Academics Above the Law?

In a recent high-profile court case former Labor MP Craig Thomson was found guilty of fraud and theft in the use of his union credit card to pay for prostitutes and make cash withdrawals when he was Health Services Union (HSU) national secretary. Labor leader Bill Shorten was quoted by ABC News as saying the conviction shows no-one is above the law.
